Light of My Life is Casey Affleck’s first film as a director since 2010’s I’m Still Here, a mockumentary curio that charted the (apparent) public breakdown of Joaquin Phoenix. That film is now notorious for unintended reasons: it’s after production finished that two women on the crew sued Affleck for multiple complaints of sexual harassment, which resurfaced to his detriment during the 2016 awards season and have lingered ever since.
