Baby boy whose pram was hit crossing the road dies a week after his mother

A baby boy who was hit by a car as he lay in his pram has died.

Eight-month-old Luciano Newman was critically injured in the collision in south London on January 13.

His mother Nicole Newman, 23, who was pushing the pram at the time of the crash, died at the scene in Croydon Road, Penge. Luciano died one week later, on Sunday.

The driver of the car, who stopped at the scene and was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries, is co-operating with police, Scotland Yard said.

Officers are continuing to appeal for witnesses and have urged anyone with dash cam footage, including footage from the minutes leading up to the collision, which happened at 8.08pm, to come forward.
