Callum Hudson-Odoi has handed in a transfer request in a bid to seal a move from Chelsea to Bayern Munich before next Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The bold move could have also impacted on head coach Maurizio Sarri’s plans for Sunday’s FA Cup fourth-round tie against Sheffield Wednesday.
Hudson-Odoi would have been in line to start against Wednesday, but his request to go could force Sarri into a re-think if he believes the 18-year-old is not in the right frame of mind.
Bayern have made a series of bids, the last of which was around £35million, to sign Hudson-Odoi this month and the youngster has now decided to try to force the issue.
That is despite the fact he has regularly featured for the first team in recent weeks, although he was an unused substitute in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg penalty shootout over Tottenham Hotspur.
With 18 months remaining on his contract, Hudson-Odoi has made it clear that he has no intention of signing a new deal even though Chelsea have made attempts to keep him.
