Odell Beckham Jr. is finally leaving the New York Giants. Quarterback Baker Mayfield is finally getting his game-breaking wide receiver.
According to multiple reports, the Giants on Tuesday night traded Beckham to the Cleveland Browns, getting in return the No. 17 overall pick in the 2019 draft, a 2019 third-round pick and safety Jabrill Peppers. The Giants now have pick Nos. 6 and 17 in the first round.
The trade ends months of speculation that Beckham was on his way out of New York. After signing Beckham to a five-year, $95 million contract last season, the Giants saw their season spiral downward, as did Beckham’s desire to be with the franchise.
He criticized quarterback Eli Manning in an October interview, and ultimately missed the last four games with a quad injury, with the Giants sporting a 4-8 record at the time.
Nonetheless, Beckham, 26, finished with 77 catches for 1,052 yards and six touchdowns last season. In 59 career games over five seasons, Beckham has 390 catches for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns. He made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons, but injuries have cost him 16 games the last two seasons.
