Joe Root has pondered moving up to bat at No3, but now looks likely to stay at four. If Foakes is not fit, Jonny Bairstow will keep wicket and it is likely that Keaton Jennings will open the batting with Joe Denly at three. If Foakes recovers from his bruised hand England will probably stick with the same batting line-up.
The pitch in St Lucia is green with lots of live grass, but is also rock hard and bare in places, so it is expected to be quick to suit the West Indies attack. It will be a truer surface, without the uneven pace and bounce that caused England so many problems in Antigua.
