Fabinho has pushed his claims to be a first pick in the marquee fixtures, although he may be forced to play centre-back in the Champions League next week if Dejan Lovren is unavailable with a hamstring injury. Virgil Van Dijk is suspended for the first leg against Munich and Joe Gomez recovering from a fractured leg.
As one of the few members of Liverpool’s squad with a title winners’ medal – earned from his time in France – Fabinho’s experience could be vital in the run-in.
“I know it is really hard to win a league, especially the Premier League, but we have experienced players here at Liverpool,” he said.
“I don’t know if I can help a lot. We know we are (competing) at the top of the table and it is important to be there at this point in the league, but we cannot think just about the title every time because that can put extra pressure on us.
“I had a good season with Monaco, we scored a lot of goals and we had joy playing football and we have to do it here as well. Enjoy the games and go on the pitch with happiness and go game-by-game.”
