How Theresa May's second Brexit deal defeat unfolded

Theresa May’s tweaked Brexit deal was once again defeated in House of Commons by a majority of 149 votes.

Despite the Prime Minister claiming to have obtained “legally-binding” changes which meant the backstop wouldn’t become permanent, Attorney General Geoffrey Cox doomed the Prime Minister’s deal by saying the legal risks were “unchanged”.
