Jan Siewert has flown in for talks with Huddersfield Town and is set to be named the club’s new head coach in the next 24 hours.
Siewert is close to agreeing a deal to take charge of the Premier League’s bottom club and is negotiating the finishing touches with his lawyer, as the 36-year-old prepares to succeed David Wagner.
The Borussia Dortmund under-23s coach quickly emerged as Huddersfield chairman Dean Hoyle’s No. 1 target and it is understood he will sign a two-and-a-half year contract.
Huddersfield will pay around £265,000 to the Bundesliga club in compensation.
Siewert is regarded as a progressive coach with an extensive background in the game despite his age. He began working with Dortmund in July 2017 and before that was involved in the set-ups at Bochum’s Under 19s and Germany’s under 17 and under 18s.
