'Lady of the Hills' mystery could soon be solved after Thai woman claims body found 15-years ago is her daughter

The woman was wearing a gold wedding ring, which detectives were able to trace back to Thailand due to the unusually high purity of gold.

Forensic tests carried out on the woman’s hair, also suggested she had spent the previous two years living in a rural area of south Cumbria or northern Lancashire.

In 2007 a coroner recorded an open verdict, but in 2016, a cold case review suggested that foul play might have been involved and detectives began exploring the theory that the victim was a “Thai bride” who had been murdered.

The lady of the hills was eventually laid to rest by villagers in Horton-in-Ribblesdale, with one local donating his reserved burial plot to the unfortunate woman instead.
