A UK technology start-up backed by the founder of Fitness First is looking to disrupt the global construction industry with a collaborative cloud-based online service launching this month.
The Construction Professionals Network (Copronet) is a privately-funded venture by David and Emma Stapleton and is backed by former Chairman and CEO of WS Atkins, Mike Jeffries and Mike Balfour, the founder of Fitness First.
Copronet is a social network for construction, looking to connect project managers, contractors, clients, architects and building firms in order to collaborate on construction projects of various sizes. It will also come with a suite of tools for project management, financing and time tracking that its creators claim could ‘transform’ the way the UK industry works.
British construction currently provides 3m jobs and is worth an estimated £110bn, 7pc of the UK’s GDP.
“Whether you are a one-man band or a global network you will find this useful,” said Emma Stapleton. “We felt that a digital hub was missing from our sector and we wanted to provide this. We created Copronet to make the construction industry fairer, faster and more efficient.”
“A big part of this was making sure Copronet was accessible to everyone,” said David Stapleton. “We believe everyone should have access to the best technology without having to worry about the cost.”
