Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber to sign three-year contract extension

Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber is signing a new contract this week in another huge boost for the Premier League club.
Webber has been one of the key men in Norwich’s transformation over the last two years and is committing his long-term future to the club after agreeing a three-year extension.
The 35 year old was instrumental in the appointment of head coach Daniel Farke in May 2017 and has played a huge role in the club’s recruitment and development of the burgeoning academy.
Previously with clubs including Liverpool, Wolves and Huddersfield, Webber is highly regarded within the game and been considered for senior roles at a number of other big Premier League clubs.
And Webber will officially put pen to paper on a new contract later this week, days after Norwich’s excellent victory over champions Manchester City at Carrow Road.
When he was appointed in April 2017, Norwich’s wage bill was £63 million a year, the second highest ever in the Championship behind Newcastle.
But the sales of stars including James Maddison (£21m), Alex Pritchard (£11m), Josh Murphy (£10m), Jacob Murphy (£10m) and Jonny Howson (£6m) helped slash that wage bill to £25 million last season.
Norwich only spent around £3.5m over the summer after winning the Championship title – £750,000 on permanent transfers and £2.8m on loan fees –and Webber, with the recruitment team, have been responsible for a number of shrewd signings including striker Teemu Pukki, Emi Buendia, Onel Hernandez and Marco Stiepermann.
