Paris-Nice 2019 – stage one results and standings: Dylan Groenewegen wins opening sprint to take early lead

Dylan Groenewegen won the opening stage of the week-long Paris-Nice race, a 138.5-km ride around St Germain en Laye, to claim the overall lead on Sunday.

The Jumbo-Visma rider outsprinted Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudal) and another Dutchman, Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck-Quick step), who were second and third respectively.

Michael Matthews (Sunweb), a three-time stage winner at Paris-Nice, was forced to abandon following a crash.

Paris-Nice continues on Monday with the 164km second stage from  Les Bréviaires to Bellegarde ​and concludes next Sunday with the 110km eighth stage around Nice.
