Pensioner who turned tables on cash machine thief and sent her packing claims: 'She wasn't expecting me.'

If the woman who approached 81-year-old Doreen Jones at a high-street cashpoint thought she was in for some easy money, she thought wrong.
Extraordinary CCTV captured the moment the assailant was sent packing after being fought off by the pensioner, who has now warned: “She picked the wrong one when she picked Doreen.”
Ms Jones was targeted on High Street in Blackheath, West Mids, as she tried to withdraw her pension from a branch of Lloyds Bank at around 10.20am on May 20.
A woman approached her holding a piece of paper and making hand gestures towards her mouth – before lunging for her bank card.
Speaking about her ordeal to the BBC’s Crimewatch Roadshow, the twice-widowed pensioner said: “I thought, ‘no, you’re not having my money, I worked hard for that’.
“I grabbed my card first, put it in my hand, then grabbed her quick.
“I got her hair as well as her collar and she started screaming – I don’t know why she was screaming, it was me who should have been screaming and crying.
“Once I let go of her, she ran off straight away round the corner.”
