Saudi Arabia has dismissed the blackmail dispute between Jeff Bezos and the publisher of the National Enquirer as “a soap opera” amid questions about the Gulf State’s role in the affair.
Adel al-Jubeir, Saudi Arabia’s foreign affairs minister, denied any involvement in the ongoing public spat between American Media Inc (AMI) and the billionaire Amazon founder.
Mr Bezos repeatedly pointed to Saudi Arabia in an explosive 2,000 word blog post on Thursday that accused AMI of an attempt to blackmail him with private photos. He claimed that AMI’s chief executive David Pecker, a close friend of Donald Trump, had links to the country.
