Tesla hired investigators to follow and harass a former employee who had leaked details of wasteful spending at the company, a former security manager has claimed.
Elon Musk was personally involved in a campaign against Martin Tripp, a former assembly line worker, that involved hacking his phone, according to Sean Gouthro, who worked at Tesla’s “Gigafactory” in Nevada.
Mr Gouthro told Bloomberg that after Mr Tripp had leaked internal documents to a news website, he was tasked with discovering the source of the leak. Tesla ordered that Mr Tripp be followed when he was pinpointed as the likely source, Mr Gouthro claimed.
