Unai Emery has said that Arsenal will only be able to sign players on loan in the January transfer window.
The Arsenal head coach, who is looking to recruit a centre-back and a wide player this month, confirmed that the club is unable to spend money on new arrivals.
Arsenal’s finances have been squeezed by their enormous wage bill and by the series of signings they have made in the last 12 months.
“We cannot sign permanently,” Emery said. “Only loan players.”
Arsenal are looking to complete a loan move for Barcelona’s Denis Suarez, who worked with Emery at Sevilla.
Asked about the Suarez speculation, Emery said: “I don’t know his situation now. We can only sign players later on. I know the club is working on possibilities of which players can help us with big performances like we need now.”
