West Ham are considering whether to trigger the £43.3 million release clause for Celta Vigo’s Maxi Gomez.
The Premier League club are said to be interested in Gomez, 22, who has scored nine goals this season for his La Liga side.
The reports follow a period of uncertainty over striker Marko Arnautovic’s future at West Ham, who has been eyeing a move to China.
West Ham rejected Shanghai SIPG’s offer of £35m for the Austrian, but the Chinese club has thus far failed to put forward an increased offer. The striker was omitted from Manuel Pellegrini’s side at their loss to Bournemouth last week.
Should the signing go through for Gomez it would be a club record for West Ham. The Uruguayan joined Celta Vigo in 2017 on a five-year deal.
