Asking for the moon

A moonphase function on a watch provides a visual representation of the lunar cycle, usually displayed via a rotating disc of illustrations shown through a window in the dial. Today, they are more romantic anachronisms than useful tools, but moonphases still have a host of fans – the more unusual the design, the more covetable the watch.
