Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a woman in her 30s was stabbed to death in broad daylight in a Surrey village.
The victim, who was walking along a street in the village of Stoneleigh, was knifed to death by a man who jumped out of car at around 3pm on Friday afternoon.
Two men were arrested in connection with the incident a short time later and police confirmed that the attacker and victim were known to one another.
Surrey Police said one man was being held on suspicion of murder while the other was detained on suspicion of assisting an offender.
One eyewitness described seeing a man get out of a black 4×4 which had mounted the kerb and chase the woman before attacking her.
The suspects then drove off and passers by rushed to the scene to help the woman who was collapsed on the pavement.
A member of the public is understood to have performed CPR on the woman before medics in an air ambulance arrived, but she was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.
