'World's best cocktail bar' set to return to London's South Bank

The ‘world’s best cocktail bar’ is set to reopen its doors as Lyaness five months after its surprise closure.

Dandelyan, an outpost of the London-based Mr Lyan group and headline bar at the former Mondrian hotel (now Sea Containers London) near Blackfriars Bridge, scooped the top prize at the prestigious Tales of the Cocktail Awards in October 2017.

But to the surprise of many the bar’s owner, the mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana (aka Mr Lyan), announced in the same week that the award-winning bar would close in order to “start afresh, and rise again as something brighter”.

Now it looks like that promise will come to fruition, with Mr Lyan’s new venture, dubbed Lyaness, set to move into the vacant river-facing space left by Dandelyan on the hotel’s ground floor.
